Foam Concrete

Home Foam Concrete

What is Foam Concrete

Over the past 25 years or so, foamed concrete has become accepted as an important material for use in the construction industry. For many applications, foamed concrete can provide cost and performance benefits when compared with traditional building materials, Foam concrete, also known as cellular light weight concrete is a mixture of lightweight mortar result from water, Portland cement, fine sand including or alone fly ash The density of foam concrete usually varies from 400 kg/m³ to 1600 kg/ m³. The density is normally controlled by substituting fully or part of the fine aggregate with foam.

Foam concrete is a cement material manufactured by mixing a cement paste, also called slurry, or mortar with a manufactured foam material. This makes a substance that is porous and lightweight. The volume of slurry to foam in the mixture dictates the density of the final product and how it will be used.Foam concrete,

also called cellular concrete, is typically made of water, cement and foam. This mixture may also include aggregates or chemicals added to change its physical properties. It is a lightweight material with low density and limited strength in most applications. It is typically a self-leveling and compacting material that is more resistant to cracking and shrinkage than standard concrete mixes

Foam Concrete Applications

  • Foam concrete is typically pumped on site to make forms such as Cast in walls, cast-in-situ etc.
  • Foamed light weight concrete in the form of bricks, blocks or poured in-situ is used for thermal insulation over flat roofs or for cold storage walls or as non-load bearing walls in RCC/Steel framed buildings or for load bearing walls for low-rise buildings.
  • Bulk filling, using relatively low strength material, for redundant sewerage pipes, wells, disused cellars and basements, storage tanks, tunnels and subways etc.
  • Infill to the spandrel walls of arch bridges.
  • Backfill to retaining walls and bridge abutment.
  • Stabilizing soil, for example in the construction of embankment slopes.
  • Grouting for tunnel work.
  • Roofs and floors as an insulating material.
  • Its low density makes it unsuitable for structural applications but it may be used to fill hollow blocks and voids between bricks and to fill unused culverts and underground voids such as old pipes.

  • Ground Stabilization
  • Bridge Abutments
  • Roads Over Soft Ground
  • Environmental Benefits
  • Precast blocks
  • Precast wall elements / panels
  • Cast-in-situ / cast-in-place walls
  • Insulating compensation laying
  • Insulation roof screeds
  • Sunken portion filling
  • Trench reinstatement
  • Sub-base in highways
  • Filling of hollow blocks
  • Prefabricated insulation boards
